BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST
Based: Office based (Hybrid Arrangement)
Working Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours a week
Location: Theale, Reading
Reports to: BI & BPA Manager

THE POSITION:
You will play a key role in delivering meaningful business intelligence across the organisation. This role combines strong technical expertise in Strategy (aka MicroStrategy) administration, schema / object management, data warehousing SQL skills, and close collaboration with business stakeholders to create high‑value dashboards, insights, and reporting. You will support and educate the user community, manage the daily operation of the BI environment, and help drive a data‑driven culture across the business.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Strategy (MicroStrategy) Development & Administration
Manage MicroStrategy schema objects including attributes, facts, hierarchies, and metrics.
Create and maintain datasets, cubes, reports, dashboards, prompts, and visualisations.
Administer platform security, user management, access control, and scheduled reports/cubes.
Ensure a clean, governed, scalable BI environment.
Business Partnering & Insights
Collaborate with sales, marketing, finance, and operations to understand business needs.
Translate requirements into meaningful dashboards and insights.
Analyse data to identify trends, drivers, and root causes of business issues.
Provide recommendations on best‑practice reporting and KPIs.
SQL & Data Analysis
Use SQL extensively to extract, query, validate, and prepare data.
Create complex queries, views, and transformations required for BI solutions.
Ensure reporting accuracy and data integrity.
User Enablement & Community Support
Handle daily operational support via JIRA, managing incidents and service requests.
Provide MicroStrategy training and guidance across the user community.
Maintain documentation in Confluence, including reporting guides and data definitions.
Documentation & Governance
Document BI processes, schema objects, and data models.
Support BI governance standards to ensure consistency across reporting.
Maintain business glossaries and metric definitions.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Technical Expertise:
Extensive hands‑on knowledge of Strategy (MicroStrategy) both front-end and administration.
Proven experience with Strategy Workstation, Developer, and other administrative tools, including management of the semantic layer, subscriptions, transaction services, HyperIntelligence and ideally scripting.
Strong SQL skills for data extraction, manipulation, and validation. Familiarity with Python and other data tools is preferred.
Experience in developing dashboards and reports from concept to delivery.
Experience with JIRA for ticket handling and Confluence for documentation.
Knowledge of data warehouse concepts and dimensional modelling.
Advanced Excel and MS Office 365 skills.
Analytical Thinking:

Understanding of key commercial, financial and operational performance metrics
Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
Ability to analyse complex data needs and create effective solutions.
Detail-oriented with robust analytical abilities.
Communication Skills:
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proven ability to build partnerships and collaborate across diverse business functions.
Skilled at presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of additional European languages is an advantage
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree either in Business, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
Experience in BI developer / analyst or similar data and analytics role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced certifications (e.g. MicroStrategy Architect)
Familiarity with data architecture trends and technologies.
Experience in the music industry, retail, or sales operations.
Work Environment:
Hybrid working with occasional travel.
Flexible working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
