THE POSITION
Roland Australia is currently seeking a Piano and Keyboard Category Manager to facilitate awareness of the products, work with our dealers, and drive sales growth through strategic account management, marketing, and content creation.
The ideal candidate will have experience in sales and/or marketing, preferably within the music or technology industry. Excellent communication skills are essential, as this role involves daily collaboration with internal teams, retail partners, and key accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engaging product training for retail salespeople using hands-on, customer-focused examples. Training should include sales techniques (e.g. top-down selling, cross-selling) to help dealers maximise transaction values.
- Develop and manage key dealer relationships, acting as the main point of contact for account performance, promotional opportunities, and product support.
- Meet and exceed sales targets through strategic planning, pipeline management, and proactive account development.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify growth opportunities, develop incentive programs, and strengthen dealer partnerships across Australia.
- Monitor local market and competitor activity to inform product development, channel strategy, pricing, and demand forecasting.
- Assist in the creation and execution of marketing plans that generate demand and convert prospects to customers.
- Work with dealers to produce and promote engaging digital content for social media and websites.
- Recommend innovative in-store display and merchandising strategies that maximise sales and brand visibility.
- Leverage multiple marketing channels (web, email, social, events) to increase awareness and sales.
- Demonstrate a commercial understanding that connects application-based marketing with measurable sales outcomes.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of piano-related products and market segments.
- The ability to play piano to a high level, with experience in live performance and demonstration.
- Proven success in sales growth, account management, or business development, ideally within the musical instrument or tech sectors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in presenting to groups.
- The ability to explain complex musical technologies in simple, relatable ways.
- A customer-centric mindset and a passion for helping partners succeed.
- Reliable, proactive attitude with strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently to achieve targets.
- Previous retail or MI industry experience is highly desirable.
