Reports to: European Retail Manager
The Company: Roland Europe Group Ltd
THE POSITION:
Our Roland, BOSS and DW Drums Showroom on Denmark Street in central London, is where we show-case the very best of our products to new, aspiring, and experienced musicians alike.
Do you have a successful track record in Retail Management, and the depth of experience to lead the team at our Flagship Store?
Can you ensure that we deliver an exceptional customer experience and that we are always nurturing customer loyalty and advocacy?
Do you have a strong commercial background, where maximising sales and profitability is one of the key measures of success?
Do you have outstanding organisational skills, an eye for detail, and a desire to exceed all expectations, whether in sales, store events, presentation, operational procedures or developing the team.
If you can answer “yes” to all four questions above, then we’d love to hear from you.
ROLE PURPOSE:
As the London Store Manager, we are looking for someone to manage and assume overall responsibility for the success of our high-profile Flagship Store on Denmark Street. You will be directing all the activities within this store, including sales, customer experience, merchandising, organisation of logistics, team training, events and all the regular day to day activities you’d expect in any high street retail store.
This is a truly exciting time to join the Retail Team at Roland, in a role which as well as being tactical and “hands-on”, is also one where you have a significant opportunity to influence how our Retail Operation grows and develops in London, as well as potentially influencing activities in some of our other retail locations across Europe.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To achieve sales growth and profitability targets, ensuring the London Store and our Roland Product Specialists deliver exceptional standards of store presentation, product knowledge and customer service, to build the Roland brand.
- To take a pro-active approach, looking for new sales and customer experience opportunities outside of the store within the local area.
- To take responsibility for the recruitment and training process of new Product Specialists.
- To lead by example, manage, control, motivate, and measure the performance of all Retail Product Specialists through tailored induction, continuous, personal development training programmes and regular 1-2-1 meetings with the team.
- To work closely with the Retail Management and Marketing Teams so that web presentation, and other on-line activity helps to drive more customers to the Roland Store.
- To ensure that the store is always ready to retail, according to the standards set.
- To ensure that all supply chain processes run smoothly between the store, our distribution centres, and the customers, and that the store always has the appropriate stock on display and available to sell.
- To use all the appropriate resources to report sales performance and to manage sales/customer processes.
- To run regular and effective team meetings ensuring that the team is working to clearly defined goals across a day, a week, a month, or a year.
- To collaborate with the European and Global Retail Management Team, the A & R, Finance, Customer Service, and I.T. teams to ensure the Roland Store receives support and delivers results in line or exceeding expectations.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
The right person for this role will need to carry a wide range of skills to be successful:
- They must be driven by results, whether that’s sales, marketing, customer success, or operational requirements.
- They must truly understand that we’re looking to achieve a customer experience, aligned with Roland’s Global Brand, as well as success measured in terms of sales results.
- They must be an accomplished and experienced salesperson ideally within a Retail environment so that they can lead from the front.
- They must be obsessed with the detail, whether that’s in terms of display standards, organisation or how we are communicating with our customers, the store team or other Roland personnel.
- In our busy store environment, they must be highly organised and able to remain calm under pressure, particularly when handling many tasks at the same time.
- They must have a pro-active and enquiring mind, as well as a positive attitude and the desire to find solutions to all obstacles that may present themselves.
- They must be able to communicate to a very high standard, both in written and verbal communication.
- They must be a team player as well as being very comfortable using their initiative and working on their own.
- They must have previously managed a team of people (ideally within a retail environment).
- Whilst a musical background is not essential, a strong interest in music and technology, and the ability to play a musical instrument to a reasonable standard would be of benefit.
- The store is open 7 days a week, where the successful candidate can usually expect to be working at least one day over the weekend. A flexible approach to working hours will be required.
